Burdened by a quiet, lingering presence in his life, an elderly man one day rediscovers a box filled with photographs and memories long forgotten and tucked away. The discovery forces an unexpected confrontation with a deep longing for a time he once had—but, for reasons unknown, has lost. Compelled by this awakening, he must take the first step toward self-realization. Moving between past and present, the man encounters the love of his life both as he once was and as he is now. An Abyss in Her Eyes is a visual and poetic narrative that explores a fundamental human fear: living a life shaped by longing for something idealized and irretrievably lost.

The short film is hsot around the area of Thyborøn. The raw coastal landscape will underscore a story driven not by dialogue, but by striking visual imagery and a powerful soundscape that carries the emotional weight of the narrative. Local settings such as Thyborøn Surf Bar, as well as the general town life of Thyborøn, will also feature in the film.

The screenplay is written by cinematographer Asmus Kromann Bork in collaboration with director Benjamin Slot Beck, with contributions from production manager and photographer Thor Kjær. Drawing from his childhood and youth spent along the rugged Danish west coast, Asmus Kromann Bork infuses the film with personal experiences—elements that ultimately shaped An Abyss in Her Eyes.
